Conference Themes:

CONNOR encourages submissions that contribute to a deeper understanding of conspiracy theories in the Nordic context. Topics of interest include but are not limited to:

  • Historical Perspectives: Exploring the historical roots and evolution of conspiracy theories in or about the Nordic countries.
     
  • Media and Mis/Disinformation: Analyzing the role of media, social platforms, and digital spaces in disseminating and amplifying conspiracy narratives.
     
  • Political Implications: Investigating the impact of conspiracy theories on political discourse, public opinion, and policy-making in the Nordic region.
     
  • Psychological Dimensions: Examining the psychological mechanisms behind belief in and propagation of conspiracy theories.
     
  • Cultural perspectives: Examining expressions, discourses and performances of conspiracy cultures.
     
  • Comparative Studies: Contrasting conspiracy theories in the Nordic countries with those in other regions, identifying commonalities and differences.
     
  • Case Studies: Presenting in-depth analyses of specific conspiracy theories or events within the Nordic context or about the Nordic countries.
     
  • Interventions and Counteractions: Strategies for countering conspiracy theories, promoting critical thinking, and enhancing media and information literacy.

 Submission Guidelines:

  • Abstracts: Please submit a 300-500 word abstract outlining your research, including its relevance to the conference themes. We welcome research at different stages of completion.
  • To submit abstract:
    • register your account below. Each account has to be approved by admins. If you register your acocunt on a working day, between 9am - 5pm (Stockholm time) we will strive to approve it asap. Outside of those hours it can take up to 24h to have the account approved. Please make sure you register well in advance to be able to submit the abstract by the deadline.
    • once your account is registered you will be able to login and submit your abstract.
    • please be aware that sometimes the emails concerning registration status end up in spam. Please check spam folders for updates if necessary.
  • Abstract Submission Deadline: January 28, 2024, 23:59.
  • Notification of Acceptance: February 15, 2024.
