Pluriliterary Spain

International Symposium

Pluriliterary Spain aims to explore the possibilities and limitations of Spain as the framework for literary study. The literatures in Basque, Castilian, Catalan and Galician all have their own particular histories and characteristics, but they nonetheless intertwine throughout history and, to a certain extent, reflect the same national reality. The different literatures are also instrumental in the respective nation-building projects, which all relate to the configuration of the Spanish state. In the wake of the Spanish social and economic crisis and the subsequent reshaping of the political landscape, this event is intended as a key intervention in the growing field of comparative literature studies of Spain.
