Things to do in Lund

Welcome to Lund!

Conference fatigue is a real bummer and in case you feel at risk, we offer here some suggestions for other things to do while in Lund.

The Cathedral (Lunds domkyrka) – Sweden’s most visited church celebrated its 900th birthday recently. You’ll find it in the middle of Lund – hard to miss.

Kulturen– this indoor/outdoor museum is well worth a visit. Here you can see historical buildings (outdoors) and an exhibition about the 20s (indoors).

Skissernas– this beautiful art museum is right next to SOL, where the conference is (and is also where the conference dinner will take place). The focus of this museum is the artistic process, and it holds works by artists like Henri Matisse, Sonia Delaunay, and Fernand Léger.

History museum – in the middle of Lundagård, you’ll find Lund’s history museum, where you can see, among other things, a piece of Descartes’ skull!

Livets Museum – in case you’re interested in medical history, don’t miss Livets Museum, which is also very close to SOL (where the conference is).

Lagom – why not visit the monument for “LAGOM” (lgm)? This notoriously hard-to-translate concept is a frequent word in the Swedish language and an indispensable ingredient in Swedish identity. Did you know it is an international unit of measure?

Botanical garden – a beautiful park to visit this time of year!

Konsthallen – if you’re interested in contemporary art, don’t miss Lund’s konsthall. You’ll find it on Mårtenstorget.

The tram – Lund recently got its own tram – which will take you out to Brunnshög and ESS. It runs from Clemenstorget, right next to the train station. https://lund.se/stadsutveckling-och-trafik/kollektivtrafik/sparvag-lund-c-till-ess

ESS – Lund is the home of ESS (European Spallation Source), a research facility under construction, which – when it is completed – will be the world’s most powerful accelerator-based source of neutrons. Difficult to get access to – but you can see it from the outside if you follow the tram to the end station.

The squares – there are many beautiful squares in Lund. Take a walk to discover Stortorget, Clemenstorget, Mårtenstorget, and other beautiful places in Lund.

Cafés – Lund is the home of many nice places for food and fika. Here are some suggestions for cafés:
