Lund University

We are happy to announce that the 4th International Symposium on Applied Phonetics, ISAPh 2022, will be held in Lund, Sweden, on 14-16 September 2022.

The conference follows the three previous ISAPh conferences held in Nagoya (2016), Aizuwakamatsu (2018), and Tarragona (2021).

The conference will be held at Grand Hotel Lund (https://www.grandilund.se/en).

The conference consists of talk and poster sessions on Sept. 14–15, including four keynote talks (by Paul Foulkes, Sonia Frota, Talia Isaacs, and Viveka Lyberg Åhlander), followed by two workshops on Sept. 16, (one led by Jacques Koreman and one by Yi Xu).

We are also pleased to announce that conference participation will be free of charge, and lunches as well as the conference dinner are included, thanks to generous donations from Riksbankens Jubileumsfond, Elisabeth Rausings minnesfond, Letterstedtska föreningen, and Birgit Rausing Language Programme.

The conference welcomes contributions from different areas of applied phonetics, that is, any application of the knowledge of phonetic science to daily human life, including, but not exclusive to:

  • how phonetic knowledge can guide the teaching and learning of foreign/second languages,
  • pronunciation teaching,
  • language and accent coaching,
  • socio-phonetics,
  • clinical phonetics
  • speech technology,
  • speech pathology,
