A model to Predict Churn

This Master Thesis has been performed at Svenska Spel with the aim to detect playing customers probability to churn, i.e. quit their gambling. The first part of the Thesis consists of some previously work done within the field, some facts about Svenska Spel and explanations of used software. The next part describes how the work has been done and the third part give the reader the theory behind the

Consumer Response and Interpretation of Provocative Advertising through Message Encoding and Association Creation

In a globalized world subjected to ongoing rapid technological development and increasingly evocative entertainment, advertisers are turning their attention to methods of provocation in an effort to induce actionable behavior from the consumer. Struggling to fight their way through the challenging environment of todays saturated market and appeal to the increasingly desensitized consumer, advertis

Tillförlitlighetsanalys av betongkonstruktioner i bruksgränstillståndet.

This report will examine the reliability of calculation methods used for concrete structures in the serviceability limit state. A comparison between the different methods will be done, based on calculations of the reliability index for these methods. This comparison will be the base for a discussion about what norm that should be prefferd in different situations and what level of reliability the c

The effects of technological and digital development on the insurance industry - A multiple case study of the Swedish insurance industry

In recent years, the insurance industry has undergone a transformation where new technologies and digitalization has impacted the competitive structure of the industry and the value chain. The competitive structure in its turn may affect the incentives to innovate. This thesis attempts to examine how technological development and digitalization has affected different parts of the value chain in th

En viktig skogslevande grupp som drabbas av habitatminskningNature is in many ways crucial for human survival. However, due to human activity and exploitation, unique species and habitats are at risk of extinction. The forest is one habitat that has been deeply afflicted. A massive loss of forests worldwide due to intense forestry has led to a defeat of biodiversity. Saproxylic beetles is one group of forest dwellers that has been affected by habitat loss.

Towards zero carbon emissions – Climate policy instruments for energy intensive industries, materials and products

Energy intensive industries (EIIs), producing the basic materials and products needed in society, contribute significantly to global emissions of greenhouse gases (GHGs). Motivated by the fear of carbon leakage, climate policy has so far treated the EIIs leniently with e.g. low carbon prices and/or free allocation of emission allowances. This has not resulted in more than marginal emission abatemeEnergy intensive industries (EIIs), producing the basic materials and products needed in society, contributesignificantly to global emissions of greenhouse gases (GHGs). Beyond Anti-Racism: Etnographies of Antiracism and Conviviality

What after all, are antiracist in favour of ? Gilroy (1998: 53) RESEARCH AIMS AND OBJECTIVESWe have for the last decades seen the emergence of new forms of racist mobilisation and action across European societies framed through radical critique towards multiculturalism and towards migration in general but especially refugees. Such mobilisations have been explained in different ways ranging from se

CFD modeling and comparison of bioreactor performance across scales at Alvotech

At Alvotech, bioreactors are used for the production of biosimilars. During the production scale-up process, issues can arise at larger scale that are difficult to predict based on physical experiments. Using CFD, two 3D bioreactor models of different scales have been created, namely the 15L HyPerformaTM Glass Bioreactor and 250L HyPerformaTM Single-Use Bioreactor, both manufactured by Thermo FishDuring bioreactor scale-up, unexpected failures become more prevalent due to the increase in volume. A comparison of mixing performance was thus made using computational modeling for two bioreactors at different scales. At the biopharmaceutical company Alvotech, bioreactors are used at different scales for producing biological medicines known as biosimilars. Bioreactors are vessels containing a m

User Perceptions of Information Quality in Business Intelligence for the Masses

The use of business intelligence is getting more and more widespread. The next step in many cases is to enable a vast amount of employees to utilize this information and tools. This approach is generally described as business intelligence for the masses. By doing so, problems arise when casual users, who are not familiar with advanced business intelligence tools, are supposed to use these in their

The Phoenix syndrome : Netroots organizations strategies to gain and maintain digital resource abundance

The development of social media challenges the established conceptualizations of resources in social movements. While previous theories largely illustrated social movements as constantly searching for new and more resources, the development of social media has allowed some actors to gather and mobilize extensive resources rapidly, calling for an analysis of resource abundance. The aim of this arti

Towards single Ce ion detection in a bulk crystal for the development of a single-ion qubit readout scheme

Popular Abstract in English At the beginning of 20th century, scientists started to realize that atoms exhibited the discrete behaviour, e.g. the energies of bond electrons were not continuously distributed, but had discrete values. Light is also transmitted as discrete packages (called photons). These phenomena can not be explained by classical physics, which has been accepted as the law of descrThe work presented in this thesis was concerned with investigating the relevant spectroscopic properties of Ce ions randomly doped in an Y2SiO5 crystal at low temperatures (around 4 K), in order to develop a technique and an experimental set-up to detect the fluorescence photons emitted by a single Ce ion. The aim of the work was to determine whether a single Ce ion (referred to as the readout ion
