This study aims to examine outreach workers’ view of developing trust through communication with young adults living in exposed areas. I seek an understanding of how outreach workers justify and excuse the development of trust and mistrust in the interaction with young adults. The empirical data consists of five semi-structured telephone-interviews with outreach workers who are active in five diff
The purpose of this study is to deepen and nuance the understanding of employees’ perception of acquisitions involving professional service firms, consultancy firms in particular. The theoretical framework is divided into three sections. Initially, Organizational Identity is presented, followed by Social Identity Theory and lastly Image. The collected material consists of data from seven interview
Competition Law has a long history, both in the U.S and Europe, although it began in the former. The goal of competition law is, among other things, to deter companies with a large market share, to abuse this position to the detriment of consumers or competition itself. Margin Squeeze is a theory of abuse relating to abuse of a dominant position. A dominant company on the wholesale market, and al
The current use of a 30 million year dateline for accepting genera in the Parmeliaceae is evaluated. Its value is doubtful since evolution obviously went quicker in some lichen groups compared with others. Parallel evolution is also very common among lichens. Polyphyletic genera should always be split, while sister groups may remain split or be combined after considering non-molecular characters.
To date, bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) have been considered the golden standard among MSC cell-based therapies. However, the harvesting of bone marrow is a highly invasive procedure and the number of MSCs isolated is low, and it declines with increasing age. MSCs with immune-regulatory and regenerative properties can be isolated from many different tissues; however, bone mar
Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a progressive life-threatening disease that is significantly increasing in prevalence and is predicted to become the third leading cause of death worldwide by 2030. At present, there are no true curative treatments that can stop the progression of the disease, and new therapeutic strategies are desperately needed. Advances in cell-based therapies pro
For a collection to be considered as such, and not appear only as a clutter or jumble of things, it has to be based on some kind of selection and systematisation. The research question of this article is how and why collectors structure their collections, organise, and arrange them. The research material is answers to the directive “Collecting things”, presented by the Mass Observation Archive in
Teaching computers to find factors that affect the mental health of app users By training computers to find patterns in how users answer questions regarding their mental health in self-report apps, factors that affect the users' psychological well-being can be found.
This study details the factors which affect the adoption of electronic and online voting in national elections. It researches adoption theories such as Davies' Technology Acceptance model (TAM) and Rodgers' Diffusion of Innovation (DoI) model. The study pays particular attention to three factors - secrecy, trust and accessibility. The paper then focuses on four nations due to their differe
Particles that are a hundred- to ten thousand times smaller than the width of a hair are commonly referred to as colloidal particles. Colloidal particles occur in a variety of products, like foodstuffs (marmelade and dairy products), construction materials (cement) and stained glass. In water, these particles are strongly affected by the Brownian force: an force that was discovered in 1827 by the Thermoresponsive colloidal microgels expel solvent from their interior upon crossing a threshold temperature, resulting in a significantly reduced size. The collapse of microgels can reversibly switch the interparticle interactions from soft repulsive to attractive, and the accompanying size reduction allows for precise control over volume fraction. Mixing two microgels that collapse at different
The development of social media challenges the established conceptualizations of resources in social movements. While previous theories largely illustrated social movements as constantly searching for new and more resources, the development of social media has allowed some actors to gather and mobilize extensive resources rapidly, calling for an analysis of resource abundance. In modern cancer therapy, radiotherapy (RT) is a vital part of most treatments. Most RT treatments in Sweden are performed using intensity-modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) with fixed or dynamic arc delivery. The dose gradients outside the target are steep, the margins are small, and the treatment delivery is complicated. Complicated treatments increase the requirement for control of the uncertainties
