Social mechanisms of class reconfiguration in Malmö
Malmö is one of the largest cities in Sweden. Its industrial past has left a mark on the buildings, now occupied by sophisticated offices for new entrepreneurial businesses (Baeten, 2012; Holgersen, 2014). This shift also has implications for the city's social class structure; this research aims to identify social mechanisms that drive the reconfiguration of social classes in Malmö. The purpo

Ethics in entrepreneurship: An understanding of how entrepreneurs solve dilemmas, their perception of ethical considerations and the structures used during the resolution process.
The speed of growth for startups has never been faster, and this growth comes with ethical challenges for society as the startups bring their innovation to the masses without considering the full implications of their business. With the aim to better understand the ethical decision making process of the entrepreneur and how to improve it, we identified two gaps in entrepreneurial ethics research t
Retoriska strider : Konkurrerande sanningar i dövvärlden
Medicinska strävanden att “laga defektIn the last couple of decades a particular interpretation of deaf and deafness has been established in ‘official’ arenas in Sweden. Deaf individuals, according to this view, should not be seen as disabled, but rather as belonging to a cultural and linguistic minority. Such views find expression in a locally established usage that may be termed a deaf culture discourse. Discourse can be seen as a
Market Models vs. Accounting Models - Default prediction during the financial turmoil
During the past few years we have experienced an extraordinary turbulence in the financial markets. Stock markets in free fall, countless of bankruptcies and government interventions to save huge financial institutions have been regular events. During these times the focal point has been risk management. Poor risk management has been one of the main reasons for the experienced crisis. To be able t

Modeling Time-inconsistent Climate Policy
This paper examines the degree to which dynamic inconsistency in climate policy presents a serious challenge in the sense that exclusively pursuing near-term cost-efficiency implies strong disincentives for policy makers to attain long-term abatement goals. We model technological change and cost-efficient emissions cuts of roughly 80% in the EU-27 energy sector during the forty-year period 2010-20
Cultural and socio-political development in south Etruria. : The Biedano region in the 5th to 1st centuries BC

Case Study on the Application of Machine Learning in Hydrology
This thesis presents a case study on the application of artificial intelligence (AI) in hydrology using two approaches. This topic was chosen since AI is an important tool, and water is a vital resource. The first case is on leakage detection with artificial data, while the second is on precipitation prediction with real data. For leakage detection, a random forest (RF) model and an artificial neuWater is the most vital resource, yet globally, 30% is lost through leaks. By implementing artificial intelligence (AI), this thesis has developed methods to locate leaks with high precision, as well as models to improve accuracy on satellite-based precipitation data. This thesis investigates two applications of AI on real-world problems; detecting water leaks and improving precipitation data. Th
The Impact of the European Union Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism: A Development Perspective
The introduction of the “Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism” (CBAM) as part of the European Union Fit for 55 and Green Deal package, has evoked much political and academic debates. So far, these have mostly focused on its effectiveness in leveling the playing field for European industries and reducing the risk of carbon leakage. We contribute to this debate by analyzing the potential effects of a

Missing Link of Power: Conceptualization of Empowerment within the Context of Reparations for Conflict Related Sexual Violence
Intersection between gender and armed conflict has been overlooked for centuries. There was little to no understanding of gendered harm the conflict brings to women’s lives and means to redress it. With somewhat increased understanding of women’s experiences in conflict came the realization that tending to the multi-faceted needs of survivors is equally important and reparations for gross violatio
Analysis of design options and trade-offs for road tunnels incorporating suppression systems
The possibility of trade-offs in road tunnel design incorporating suppression has been evaluated. Different tunnel configurations and ventilation conditions considered to identify potential trade-offs, offering options of design alternatives for future substantial cost-benefit estimates. Suppression systems are regularly used in Australia and Japan. The interest regarding suppression systems in tu
