Determinants of Economic indicators for Electricity Consumption in Pakistan

Economic Growth is often cited as a driving force behind electricity consumption. Pakistan has an under-developed Electricity Sector, and this restrains the economic activities in the country. Load-shedding, which are power outages scheduled by the government, are a frequent occurrence, and these outages affect all sectors of the Pakistani economy. The Energy Crisis (based on electricity shortage)

SPAC merger vs traditional IPO

Special Purpose Acquisition Companies are surging in popularity as a way for companies to go public. As half of the initial public offerings on US stock exchanges were SPACs in 2021 there seems to be no indication of SPACs slowing down. This thesis examines the performance of companies that went public via a business combination with a SPAC in the year 2020 compared to companies that decided to ta

Buying Out? – Purchases of Domestic Services and Swedish Women’s Housework Shares

In order to enhance understanding of what factors influence the gender division of housework, this study investigates the association between households’ purchases of domestic services and women's share of unpaid domestic labour in Swedish heterosexual working couples. Findings from logistic regression analyses suggest that purchases of domestic services, in the literature sometimes also refer

Detta har lösts så attThe purpose of this paper is to investigate and clarify how an app manufacturer should handle VAT regarding apps sold to users within the EU. By investigating what VAT is, and deciding which state has the right to receive VAT for each product sold, I will show how VAT should be handled in different situations. VAT is an indirect tax, which means that someone else than the person who is to bear its

Att skifta dagens resurskrävande och avfallsproducerande ekonomi till vad som brukar kallas en cirkulär ekonomi är en möjlig lösning för att möta den växande popIn a circular economy all materials and resources should be used for as long as possible, therefore waste management is a crucial part. This study aims to map the reasons behind how people chose to handle things they no longer want. By con- ducting interviews with 91 respondents at the two recycling centres in Lund; Gastelyckan and Gunnesbo, some general reasons were discovered. By interview- ing

Detta märks framförallt när det handlar om tre typiska sakrättsliga problemsituationer: tvesala, godtrosföThe concept of possession is and has long been a central concept of the Swedish property law. Being a crucial and important concept, it has none the less never been fully defined by Swedish law. Possession is an important element of property law; being in possession of personal property means one is presumed to own the property or, at least, use the property. This becomes obvious when one looks at

How to mainstream secondhand consumption - a quantitative case study of a company in the refurbishment products industry

Mer speciThe shortage of Earth’s limited resources is becoming more evident and our planet’s climate system is under immense pressure. To combat these problems, more people investigate the concept of circularity. This study intended to find out what make consumers motivated to buy used items from a professional refurbisher, thereby replacing purchases of brand-new products, and also identifying barriers.

What matters for patients’ experiences with primary care? A study of variation in patient reported experience measures with regard to structural and organisational characteristics of primary care centres in a Swedish region

Previous research on variation in patient reported experience measures (PREMs) suggest that it is important to be cautious when using comparative information about patients’ experiences, collected via patient surveys, to assess provider performance. Not all factors associated with variation in PREMs are related to factors that providers themselves can control. This study explores if structural cha

Violent conflict and taxation : Micro-level evidence from Burkina Faso

This study analyzes how violent conflict influences taxation in a poor, conflict-affected country, Burkina Faso. We use a unique, large, and representative panel dataset on tax collection of firms between 2015 and 2022 and geographically match these data with indicators of violent conflict at the municipal level. We find that firms pay a lower amount of tax in areas affected by violence. We also f
