Alle tidligere eksperimentelle data er kombineret til en enkelt teori, kendt som StandardModellen This thesis consider the improvement of the simulation tools used to describe high energy particle collisions. These simulation programs are normally referred to as event generators. The emphasis is on two specific parts of the event generation: the introduction of radiation of weak bosons associated with the collision and a new model for colour reconnection. Each collision contains significant

Popular Abstract in English All ordinary matter around us is made out of atoms. In turn, the building blocks of the atoms are nowadays known to be three types of particles:electrons, protons and neutrons. The latter are called nucleons, as they together form the positively charged nucleus of the atom, around which the electrons are moving. The radius of the nucleus is about three orders of magnituComprehensive experimental knowledge of the 62Zn nucleus has been obtained from the combined statistics of four different experiments. The Gammasphere Ge-detector array in conjunction with the 4pi charged-particle detector array Microball was used to detect the gamma-rays in coincidence with evaporated light charged particles. In total twenty seven band structures have been observed in 62Zn, twent

Europe, following the American model, became a Car Society during the Golden Age. In Sweden, mass-motorization spread faster and approximately ten years earlier than in the rest of the continent. This study aims to pinpoint factors explaining this advance. In general, living standards are considered as the determinant of private car diffusion; population dispersion is also assumed to be an acceler

The present compilation thesis is divided into two sections, one for each of two separate methodological issues: reduction of random errors in mortality estimates and offsetting random variation related bias in data generated estimators of risk inequalities. Summary of section A In regard to the first issue a new family of survival functions is proposed. Its purpose is to provide valid and reliabl

Nocturnal lepidopteran pollinators face pesticide exposure risks in agricultural landscapes, yet lack adequate risk assessment frameworks compared to diurnal species. We present a formal model description for Noctua pronuba within the Animal Landscape and Man Simulation System (ALMaSS), providing the first comprehensive agent-based framework for assessing the impacts of pesticides on nocturnal mot

Despite a number of corporate governance reforms introduced following an Anglo-American blueprint, the Swedish corporate governance system still contains several country-specific traits. In this article, we try to understand this continuity of the national corporate governance system. We do this by outlining a model for describing the processes of change built on Mary Douglas’ (1986) theory of ‘in

In this paper, I discuss resistance against antisemitism in relation to the overall antiracist struggle. Inspired by postcolonial theory and critical race studies, and by locating notions of “Swedishness” at the core of the analysis, I show that antisemitism can be understood as a form of structural racism entangled with other racisms. We examine strategic self-ignorance—the use of ignorance as an excuse to over-indulge in pleasurable activities that may be harmful to one’s future self. Our model shows that guilt aversion provides a behavioral rationale for present-biased agents to avoid information about negative future impacts of such activities. We then confront our model with data from an experiment using prepared, restauran

There are many advantages with the development towards Integrated Circuits (ICs) with smaller, faster, and more transistors. However, tighter margins lead to a need of on-chip instruments to test, tune, and configure. These on-chip instruments, which can be in the range of thousands per IC, must be accessed through the life-time. However, access is challenged by complex system hierarchies. When IC

Urban mobility as we know it is changing. On the one hand, challenges persist ranging from climate change, increasing urbanization and demographic change. On the other hand, recent technological advances enable novel approaches to mobility altogether. This paper investigates Personal Rapid Transit (PRT) as one such innovative mobility form in the context of the changing urban mobility paradigm. Du

The following thesis examines the work of the early swedish transplant surgeons with special regards to the question of organ procurement. Through a careful reading of letters during 1971-1986, left from one prominent swedish transplant surgeons of that time – Sven-Eric Bergentz – I investigate how clinicians sought ways to solve the controversial problem of organ procurement. The institutionaliza

Land use change is a factor not often considered when modeling river discharge in regard to future flood risk. The restoration of wetlands is an ongoing land use change which affects water storage capacity in the soils of a catchment and could lead to lower flows in rivers. This study analysed the effect of an increased wetland area on river discharge in the Bråån catchment in Skåne, Sweden. D

Wet cupping, or traditional Finnish cupping has been practised in Finland for several centuries. It is a treatment where blood is removed from the body through a ritual-like procedure. The treatment starts with the cupper making small cuts on the skin with a lancet or cuppers axe. Cups are placed over the cuts, and through the vacuum that emerge under the cups blood is drained. Still in the middle

This thesis explores how urban renewal, and the subsequent gentrification implicit in this process, alters and affects queer experiences of spaces in twenty-first century London. First, the reasons queer people move to cities are discussed using Sara Ahmed’s term orientation. To highlight the socio-political importance of queer landmarks and locales, an investigation of Shoreditch, east London is u

The purpose of the project has been to investigate how people dwell and furnish in recently build apartments. The project consists of a dwelling survey where 14 tenants in four different types of apartments, architects, realtors and an availability expert are interviewed to give their view on how Swedish regulations regarding housing corresponds to how people live, and want to live. The project co
