A 1.8-GHz CMOS VCO tuned by an accumulation-mode MOS varactor

This work presents a 1.8-GHz VCO tuned by a pMOS capacitor working exclusively in the accumulation and depletion regions. The VCO has been fabricated in a standard 0.6 μm CMOS process. It shows a tuning range of about 11% and a phase noise of -137 dBc/Hz at 3 MHz offset from the carrier, for a current consumption of 2.7 mA. The VCO compares favorably with a CMOS VCO tuned by a reverse biased diode

Eye movements during visual imagery have a functional role and are related to individual differences in spatial imagery ability

This study investigated eye movements during visual imagery, under two experimental conditions. Participants recalled complex pictures from memory while looking at a blank screen under a condition of free viewing and under a condition where fixation was maintained in the centre of the screen. The recall task was to orally describe the picture. Results showed that, under the condition of free viewi

On the evolutionary origin of declarative pointing

Imperative and declarative pointing are distinct kinds of communicative acts that rely on different cognitive capacities in the speakers. Declarative pointing is an important precursor to language, seen from both an evolutionary and a developmental perspective. Declarative pointing is functionally independent of affective intersubjectivity, yet it is intimately related to it in development. It is

Grafchart and its relations to Grafcet and Petri nets

The paper presents Grafchart, a graphical programming language for sequential control applications. Grafcahrt has been influenced by Grafcet/SFC and Petri nets. In the paper the relations between Grafchart and Grafcet/SFC and between Grafcahrt and Petri nets are presented and discussed.

Models and software for corrugated board and box design

To design and develop boxes which protect, and at the same time utilize fiber material efficiently, models and software for predicting corrugated board and box properties are needed. The purpose of this research is to provide propositions toward improving the use and development of models and software for corrugated board and box design. By using an abductive approach, 18 models and four software

Learning to Anticipate the Movements of Intermittently Occluded Objects

A model of event driven anticipatory learning is described and applied to a number of attention situations where one or several visual targets need to be tracked while being intermittently occluded. The model combines covert tracking of multiple targets with overt control of a single attention focus. The implemented system has been applied to both a simple scenario with a car that is occluded in a
