Industrial energy systems involve many components where fluid flow, heat and mass transfer are the important transport processes. For design and development as well as investigation of innovative ideas, computational methods are of vital importance. Since the early pioneering works (by, e.g., the Spalding group) in the 1960s and 1970s, the development has been tremendous and nowadays CFD (computat

This article considers the challenges faced by digital evidence specialists when collaborating with other specialists and agencies in other jurisdictions when investigating cyber crime. The opportunities, operational environment and modus operandi of a cyber criminal are considered, with a view to developing the skills and procedural support that investigators might usefully consider in order to r

We give some new examples of bounded multilinear forms on the Hilbert spaces l(2) and L-2(0, infinity). We characterize those which are compact or Hilbert-Schmidt. In particular, we study m-linear forms (m >= 3) on l(2) which can be regarded as the multilinear analogue of the famous Hilbert matrix. We also determine the norm of the permanent on K-n, where K = R or C.

In this report the characteristics of the electron applicator system for an Elekta SLi Plus linear accelerator have been studied. The investigation will serve as a basis for a new applicator design that will give less radiation leakage. The present applicator system does not fully comply with the recommendations of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) Standards recording radiation l

Delegated, but still intensive: Quality time and parenting in upper-middle class families in Sweden During the last decade, Swedish families have started to employ nannies and au pairs to an extent previously never experienced. Political initiatives such as tax deductions for household services, together with global trends of ‘care chains’, have created a private market for care services, which ha

Given the strong coupling between the carbon (C) and nitrogen (N) cycles, there is substantial interest in understanding how N availability affects C cycling in terrestrial ecosystems, especially in ecosystems limited by N. However, most studies in temperate and boreal forests have focused on the effects of N addition on tree growth. By comparison, less is known about the effects of N availability

Relentless CMOS scaling coupled with lower design tolerances is making ICs increasingly susceptible to wear-out related permanent faults and transient faults, necessitating on-chip fault tolerance in future chip microprocessors (CMPs). In this paper, we describe a power-efficient architecture for redundant execution on chip multiprocessors (CMPs) which when coupled with our per-core dynamic voltag

Drawing on practice centered approaches to consumption, this study situates a cultural analysis of Instagram, a smartphone-‐based image sharing application used by over 80 million people worldwide, within wider discourses on reflexive modernity, critical media studies, prosumption, and late-‐modern consumer culture. A seven-‐day diary study with 25 international participants, supplemented by pa

This thesis starts with an interest to explore how I, as an urban designer, can contribute to make the city centre of my hometown more enjoyable for its citizens and visitors. Growing up in Västerås, the city centre was a place of retail. You walked in the large-scale public realm, looking out for cars when crossing the streets, and visiting the large indoor malls. How can the city centre be impro
