The presenters describe validation studies for a performance-based EAP certification test, the Test of Oral English Proficiency for Academic Staff (TOEPAS), designed to assess lecturers' oral proficiency for coping with the demands of English-medium instruction (EMI). Copenhagen Business School (CBS) finds itself needing to address the issue of English-medium instruction for its increasing number of foreign exchange and full degree students. With internationalisation as a main pillar of the institution’s agenda, there are concerns whether the teaching faculty’s level of English is sufficient for the increasing number of courses offered in English each semester.
