The B-cell lymphoma (BCL) subtype, mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) is a lymphoid malignancy associated with high risk of relapses and an overall poor prognosis. The relapses are believed to be the result of a treatment resistant sub-population harbouring stem cell like properties. One way to isolate and identify such cells is through analysis of the side population (SP) by staining with Hoechst 33342.
