This article presents an innovative methodology in which virtual reality-based eye-tracking techniques and 3D Geographical Information Systems are employed to record and measure human visual attention within the virtually reconstructed space of a Pompeian house.
This thesis is a study of Twelver Shi’a Islam in the context of Azeri-Turkish Muslims living in the Anatolia-Caucasus borderlands of Northeastern Turkey. Taking the sonic as the central focus and field of enquiry I listen to the ways that sound mediates between bodies, both somatic and social, and the divine in the ritual and quotidian lives of Shi’i practitioners. I argue that sound, voice and li

OBJECTIVE: To characterize 414 patients with primary SS who developed hematological malignancies and to analyze how the main SS- and lymphoma-related features can modify the presentation patterns and outcomes.METHODS: By January 2021, the Big Data Sjögren Project Consortium database included 11 966 patients fulfilling the 2002/2016 classification criteria. Hematological malignancies diagnosed acco
Pedagogical translanguaging research often shows positive effects on student engagement and learning (e.g., García & Kleyn, 2016; Paulsrud, Rosén, Straszer & Wedin, 2018; Paulsrud, Tian & Toth, 2021). Given that each classroom is a unique sociocultural context (Byrnes, 2020), often exhibiting complex multi-causality (Baker & Wright, 2021), most of this research is qualitative in na
This paper is concerned with the salience of discourse referents from both a hearer and a speaker perspective in the context of negative quantifying expressions (e.g. not all, few) in Swedish. In three sentence completion studies we investigated what discourse referent is most salient from each of these perspectives and how salience is affected by the syntactic form/semantic type (entity vs. propo
In recent years the possibility to increase maximum length and weight of heavy goods vehicles to allow for High Capacity Vehicles (HCVs) has been debated in Sweden. Proposals to increase maximum weight to 74 tonnes, and length to 34m have caused controversy. Key arguments among proponents are that HCVs will bring about benefits, such as: increasing energy efficiency and decreasing CO 2 emissions,
Fabrication of next generation transistors calls for new technological requirements, such as reduced size and increased density of structures. Development of cost‐effective processing techniques to fabricate small‐pitch vertical III–V nanowires over large areas will be an important step toward realizing dense gate all‐around transistors, having high electron mobility, and low power consumption. It
A key challenge when learning language in naturalistic circumstances is to extract linguistic information from a continuous stream of speech. This study investigates the predictors of such implicit learning amongst adults exposed to a new language in a new modality (a sign language). Sign-naïve participants (N=93; British-English speakers) were shown a 4-minute weather forecast in Swedish Sign
