The permanent magnet synchronous machine (PMSM) can be used for a wide range of applications. In this case, the motor that is examined is inspired of Husqvarna's handheld electrical tools where the motor is part of its electrical chainsaw. The idea is to investigate and simulate different algorithms for online parameter estimation for the PMSM. Consequently, one of the algorithms is selected a

This essay aims to investigate the phenomenon of being able to crush the glass ceiling through critical discourse analysis and intersectional theory. The material for the survey consists of the self-help book Bortom glastaket (Sedell & Gustafsson 2015). The purpose is to critically examine who is presented as the subject to be able to crush the glass ceiling, what prerequisites are required

Popular Abstract in English The long-term stability of the global terrestrial carbon sink has been a matter of concern in that a weakening would have serious consequences for atmospheric CO2 concentrations and, hence, for further changes in climate. High northern latitudes are of special importance for the global carbon budget as they store large amounts of organic matter in the soil and are expecHigh northern latitudes are of special importance for the global carbon budget as they store large amounts of organic matter in the soil and are expected to be the most strongly affected by climate change. Here we investigate carbon exchange in the subarctic mountain birch forest growing on the limit where tree growth is possible. The study sites are located close to the Abisko village in norther

The energy intensive industry, producing basic materials, is responsible for 25 to 30% of today's global greenhouse gas emissions. The future supply of GHG neutral basic materials (e.g. steel, cement, aluminium, plastics, etc.) is a necessity for building a sustainable modern society. Deep decarbonisation of the energy intensive industries is technically possible but will require a major systemic

As urban areas expand rapidly worldwide, wildlife is exposed to a wide range of novel environmental stressors, such as increased air pollution and artificial light at night. Birds in highly polluted and/or urbanized habitats have been found to have increased antioxidant protection, which is likely important to avoid accumulation of oxidative damage, which can have negative fitness consequences. Popular Abstract in English Where are we? And what are all the things we have around us? These are questions that we ask as children when we start to discover the world around us. But just because we grow up does not mean that we find the answers to those questions. Around us, we see things as red buses, blue oceans and yellow flowers. But according to science, it is not these things that we fundaA metal nanoparticle can be considered as consisting of a base of positive ion cores and a sea of free electrons. When the free electrons are displaced, for example, by an incident electric field, a restoring force acts on the electrons. The electrons may then oscillate back and forth until equilibrium is reached. This oscillation occurs at the natural frequency, or eigenfrequency, of the system.

The ability for a damaged structure to withstand progressive collapse is often referred to as robustness. A robust building is characterized by the fact that the consequence of local damage is never more severe than the initial event. The way in which structural robustness is approached in the design of a building differs a great deal from one structural engineer to another. For a structure in con

Due to the refugee crisis that evolved in 2015, the Swedish Government introduced a new refugee policy in order to decrease the number of asylum seekers arriving in Sweden. This new refugee policy resulted, among other things, in a temporary law that limits the possibilities to receive a residence permit in Sweden. The temporary law has received a great amount of criticism from several consultatio

In the early days of digitalisation of Swedish healthcare, eDoctors, such as Kry, operated in parallel with traditional primary care. With the rising popularity and benefits of digital services, traditional healthcare is looking into digitalisation options. Digi-physical healthcare, the integration between digital and traditional physical care, is suggested as a potential future for Swedish health

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has been increasingly recognized as a key enabler in discovering scientific knowledge. Due to the current momentum, researchers from various fields try to incorporate AI to their research work. However, research to be truly identified as scientific research it requires to bring in new knowledge adhering to a scientific method. This study attempts to explore how AI affe

Thesis Purpose: We aim to enhance the understanding of why Swedish consumers perform pro-environmental behaviors and how this can be influenced by managers and marketers in the shopping mall environment, making the mall more attractive and shoppers more loyal. Theoretical Perspective: We take on a sociological perspective by researching constructs based on identity theory, conspicuous consumption

The purpose of this thesis is to explore Generation Z consumers’ expectations of in-store digital technologies and to enhance the understanding of different segments’ consumer values derived from in-store technologies. The analysis of the empirical material allowed to identify a new segment of Generation Z consumers, Conventionals, and reveal new consumer values derived from in-store technology wh

This report deals with the implementation of a Japanese word prediction engine written by the author. As this type of software does not seem to exist for Japanese at the time of writing, it could prove useful in Japanese augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) as a software tool used to improve typing speed and reduce the amount of keystrokes needed to produce text. Scientific abstract: The study set out to investigate diurnal patterns in methane flux in a fen in Kobbefjord, Southwest Greenland and to link these to physical and biological parameters in the environment. Methane flux was measured using six chambers which recorded the flux every ten minutes from spring to autumn. Methane flux data from 2009 and 2010 were compared to photosynthetically active radA study of diurnal variations in methane flux in a fen in Kobbefjord in Southwest Greenland is presented. Four separate periods, each of one week, from the growing seasons of 2009 and 2010 were chosen. Methane flux data were compared to surface temperature, soil temperature and photosynthetically active radiation (PAR). Regression tests between surface temperature and methane flux produced highly
