Fanny Hellgren's solo exhibition features several paintings from the artist's latest series. Project finds ways to better care for the world's forests

This article is over 5 years old, and the information may therefore be outdated. When physical geographer Daniel Metcalfe explains what he does in the simplest possible way, he says he examines holes in leaves. However, the project is far more sophisticated than that, and could lead to a better way of caring for the forests of the world in the future. Daniel Metcalfe is an associate senior lecture

Time to stop talking about the climate?

This article is over 5 years old, and the information may therefore be outdated. A warmer world affects health, jobs, migration and welfare. We can no longer talk about the climate as a separate issue, says sustainability professor Emily Boyd. – Climate change has long been seen as something separate from society. People often talk about negative effects on our natural environment rather than how

Students don’t need to pack their bags to gain international qualifications

Wobbling and laughing, a few of the girls glide over the ice. They are holding hands in a chain. If one falls, they all go down. They are thirteen recently arrived girls and five volunteers in the Save the Children project, Girl to Girl, who are meeting on a Sunday at the ice rink in Lund. One of the volunteers is studying Human Rights as an activity for the Certificate of International Merits (CI

How EU agriculture can meet climate targets

The proposal from the European Scientific Advisory Board on Climate Change (ESABCC) would see agricultural subsidies phased out for the activities that cause the most damage to the climate, whilst increasing carbon sequestration and introducing specified pricing for emissions. Tracing an academic startup’s journey from lab discovery to cancer therapy

– I have red cells in my dish! When the phone call from PhD student Fábio Rosa came through, Professor Filipe Pereira knew that this was the start of something big. All their work had been leading to this moment. The red cells in the dish were from a mouse, and Filipe and his colleagues had been trying to reprogramme them into dendritic cells, specfically type 1 conventional dendritic cells, (cDC1
