All rapportering görs elektroniskt i EU:s portal Funding & tender opportunities.

Nämnda referensram utgör hittills soft law men kan, helt eller delvis, komma att liggaFor several years, there has been an ongoing debate regarding the establishment of a uniform European contract law. The subsequent harmonization process has been driven both on an academic level as well as by the legislative authority of the European Union. Recently established, the Draft Common Frame of Reference, DCFR, is an initial step towards unification of laws. This frame of reference is hi

Emission and exposure assessment of arc discharge produced multiwalled carbon nanotubes in an industrial environment

The industry of engineered nanoparticles (ENPs) has grown rapidly during the last decade, with for example carbon nanotubes (CNTs) incorporated in high-tech composites and nanosized TiO2 in sunscreens and paint. With an increased potential of human exposure to these novel ENPs, especially during production and handling of nanoparticles, the concern of risks when people become exposed has increased

Trademark as a legitimate barrier in trade

The relationship between Intellectual Property (IP), free movement of goods and competition law has always been complex. While IP safeguards an exclusive right that is territorial, the free movement of goods and competition principles aim to have free competition on the market and at first sight, they seem to be in conflict. Trademark rights works as a legitimate barrier for market entry and has t

Measurement of K̄ N scattering below the K̄ N mass threshold

We measured πΣ invariant mass spectra below and above the K̄N mass threshold in the K-d → NπΣ reaction in order to study the K̄N interaction and the Λ(1405) resonance. This reaction can be described by the two-step process: (i) K-N1 → K̄N followed by (ii) K̄N2 → πΣ, where N1 and N2 are nucleons bound in the deuteron. We deduced the S -wave scattering amplitude of K̄N → K̄N as well as K̄N → πΣ in I

Performance of the European Society of Cardiology 0/1-Hour, 0/2-Hour, and 0/3-Hour Algorithms for Rapid Triage of Acute Myocardial Infarction : An International Collaborative Meta-analysis

BACKGROUND: The 2020 European Society of Cardiology (ESC) guidelines recommend using the 0/1-hour and 0/2-hour algorithms over the 0/3-hour algorithm as the first and second choices of high-sensitivity cardiac troponin (hs-cTn)-based strategies for triage of patients with suspected acute myocardial infarction (AMI).PURPOSE: To evaluate the diagnostic accuracies of the ESC 0/1-hour, 0/2-hour, and 0

Biological reduction of hexavalent chromium - A field study

When ferrochromium is produced at Vargon Alloys AB (Vargon, Sweden), an offgas dust is generated as a byproduct. A leachate that contains hexavalent chromium (Cr6+) is formed when rainwater percolates through the dust deposit. In this study, Cr6+ in the leachate was reduced to trivalent chromium (Cr3+) by biological treatment in a biofilm process operated under anaerobic conditions. The reactor vo

One-dimensional steeplechase for electrons realized

We report growth of one-dimensional semiconductor nanocrystals, nanowhiskers, in which segments of the whisker with different composition are formed, illustrated by InAs whiskers containing segments of InP. Our conditions for growth allow the formation of abrupt interfaces and heterostructure barriers of thickness from a few monolayers to 100s of nanometers, thus creating a one-dimensional landsca

An economic evaluation of combination treatment with budesonide and formoterol in patients with mild-to- moderate persistent asthma

Patients with mild asthma may benefit from increasing their inhaled corticosteroid dose, adding a tong-acting beta(2)-agonist, or both. This study assessed the cost-effectiveness of these options. Patients aged greater than or equal to12 years with mild-to-moderate persistent asthma (n = 1272) were randomised to twice-daily, double-blind treatment with budesonide 100 mug, budesonide 100 mug plus f

Passive smoking and childhood asthma. Urinary cotinine levels in children with asthma and in referents

Passive exposure to tobacco smoke was assessed in children with asthma (age 3-15) and in referents. There was statistically significantly (P less than 0.0005) higher excretion of the nicotine metabolite, cotinine, in the urine of 49 children with asthma (geometric mean 10 ng/ml) compared with 77 referents (4.8 ng/ml). Maternal smoking was statistically significantly more prevalent among the asthma

An ultra low voltage, low power, fully integrated VCO for GPS in 90 nm RF-CMOS

A fully integrated 0.6 V VCO for the GPS L1 band is realized in a 90 nm RF-CMOS process. The purpose of the design is to demonstrate how suitable deep submicron CMOS transistors are for ultra low voltage, low power oscillator design. The VCO operates at 6.3 GHz and a divide-by-four circuit buffer provide the wanted 1575.42 MHz signal. Measured phase noise is for a 0.6 V supply voltage and bias cur

Orientation of Snow Buntings (Plectrophenax nivalis) close to the Magnetic North Pole

Orientation experiments were performed with first-year snow buntings (Plectrophenax nivalis) during their autumn migration in a natural near-vertical geomagnetic field approximately 400 km away from the magnetic north pole. Migratory orientation of snow buntings was recorded using two different techniques: orientation cage tests and freeflight release experiments. Experiments were performed under
