Patriarkala män och toffelhjältar - en kvalitativ studie om det professionella arbetet med våldsutsatta män i nära relationer

Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) is a social problem that exists among all groups in society. But little attention have been paid to women’s violence against men. The focus of this thesis is to find out, through the eyes of the professionals, how the traditional concepts of gender affect the job with men who have been subject to IPV in heterosexual relationships. Through semi structured interviews,

Investigating the Long-Run and Causal Relationship between GDP and Crime in Sweden

Crime is one of the most harmful social problems throughout the world suggesting that the topic of crime is one of the most important research areas within the field of economics. This thesis attempts to shed some new light on the relationship between crime and gross domestic product (GDP) in Sweden. More specifically the aim of the paper is to look for the existence of a cointegration relationshi

Genom klassisk rättsvetenskaplig metMy first interest in the subject of discrimination against individuals who are overweight and obese was raised when an employer at my work in a restaurant denied a person interview ex-clusively due to her weight. I personally considered this to be wrong. The purpose of this es-say is to investigate whether it is allowed to disadvantage a person entirely based on the per-son’s weight. I will use a

Characterization of Atrial Fibrillation Episodes Using a Point Process Model

The purpose of the present study is to introduce a point process model for characterizing the pattern of atrial fibrillation (AF) episodes. A variant of the bivariate Hawkes process is proposed, accounting for clustered episodes. The model parameters are inferred by the maximum likelihood method. The goodness-of-fit analysis show that model fits the data in most of the recordings (27 out of 32). T

Tests of Equal Forecasting Accuracy for Nested Models with Estimated CCE Factors*

In this article, we propose new tests of equal predictive ability between nested models when factor-augmented regressions are used to forecast. In contrast to the previous literature, the unknown factors are not estimated by principal components but by the common correlated effects (CCE) approach, which employs cross-sectional averages of blocks of variables. This makes for easy interpretation of

“This Is What We Don't Know” : Treating Epistemic Uncertainty in Bayesian Networks for Risk Assessment

Failing to communicate current knowledge limitations, that is, epistemic uncertainty, in environmental risk assessment (ERA) may have severe consequences for decision making. Bayesian networks (BNs) have gained popularity in ERA, primarily because they can combine variables from different models and integrate data and expert judgment. This paper highlights potential gaps in the treatment of uncert

Neutron Diffraction Study of Indole Solvation in Deep Eutectic Systems of Choline Chloride, Malic Acid, and Water

Deep eutectic systems are currently under intense investigation to replace traditional organic solvents in a range of syntheses. Here, indole in choline chloride-malic acid deep eutectic solvent (DES) was studied as a function of water content, to identify solute interactions with the DES which affect heterocycle reactivity and selectivity, and as a proxy for biomolecule solvation. Empirical Poten

Obstacles and Opportunities in Information Transfer Regarding Medications at Discharge - A Focus Group Study with Hospital Physicians

Purpose: This qualitative study aimed to investigate experiences and perceptions of hospital physicians regarding the discharging process, focusing on information transfer regarding medications. Methods: By purposive sampling three focus groups were formed. To facilitate discussions and maintain consistency, a semi-structured interview guide was used. Discussions were audio recorded and transcribed
